Helikon CPU Ripstop Boonie, Olive Green

“Two sizes to fit them all.”

The CPU Boonie’s cut in a nutshell: you take a basic boonie, make the brim a more reasonable size, change the fastening loops to elastic ones, add ventilation holes to the top and sides, make the chin strap removable, and above all, make the circumference of the cap adjustable.

A mesh lining and a fleece sweatband are found inside the hat, which make using the hat in hot weather very comfortable. A piece of female side Velcro has been placed on top of the hat, on which badges can be attached, or a dead rag with a little piece of male side Velcro.

Boonie:
Boonie (or brimmed hat) is a hat model for military use, designed after WWII. The brim provides shelter from the sun and rain and as a result the hat is also practical for example when boating or on the shooting range. In the forest it also somewhat protects against branches. When it comes to the design of the hat, it breaks up the outlines of the natural human figure, but only slightly when compared to a field cap. Woven loops above the brim have been specifically designed for adding leaves and branches. The hat is as such well suited to as the base for a ghillie hat! Boonies are almost always provided with a drawstring.

The most common ways to wear a Boonie hat aka the Jungle hat:

1. “the GI” the hat on head, optional neckband under the chin or behind the neck with style.
2. “the Cowboy/Indiana Jones” the hat on head, both sides of the brim lifted and secured with the neckband.
3. “the Robin Hood” the hat on head, one side of the brim lifted and secured with the neckband.
4. “the Captain Hook” the hat on head, the brim lifted at the front.
5. “the Combat Signaller” hat missing.

Helikon made CPU boonies adjustable which significantly reduced the need for different sizes. Two different sizes are left: number given with size is max head circumference.
