It’s been a long time coming – the M05

Tradesoft is proud to present the fruits of co-operation with Templar’s Gear: tactical combat gear with the Finnish M05 camouflage! The aim of this co-operation is to fill a torso-sized hole in the Finnish gear market: before this, it was not possible to have a full combat gear set available with the domestic M05 pattern.

We had contemplated on acquiring M05 combat gear before, but had not found a suitable manufacturer before Templar’s Gear. The actual idea of this project was born in the fall of 2017 when the first Templar’s Gear products landed at our headquarters. After finding a suitable friend and partner in Poland, it was obvious that we had to present this gift to the airsoft/reserve forces/military/defence forces/SRA shooting communities and everyone interested in the Finnish camouflage pattern.

Astrolabe is an ancient astronomical tool used to illustrate the structure of the universe. With Templar's Gear's Astrolabe, the stars and the situational awareness are always on point! In addition to this, watching cat videos in the trenches is easier than ever. Thanks to the innovative structure, you can use your most valuable electronics outside the wire, because the stiffened structure protects against shocks, projectiles and the thorough execution of combat acrobatics.

Notable differences between Gen. 1 and Gen. 2

The full feature list can be found below, but let's go through the most essential ones here:

• Magnet utilizing buckle made by Fidlock. Durable, fast and only so slightly magnetic that the compasses are not confused!
• Stiffer construction - but still not super hard.
• There are attachment loops for the device inside - you don't have to use them, but they are a good option to have!

Features:

• The closing mechanism is Fidlock's magnetic buckle. However, most of the hard work is handled by good ol' friction and sturdy plastic, magnetism is mainly used as additional security and for indexing the buckle. Thinking about interference with compasses? This small magnet has much less effect than, for example, the steel barrel of a gun.
• Suitable for practically any electronic device with dimensions of up to 18 x 10 x 2 cm. Devices slightly thicker than this are of course also suitable, but then the stiffened structure won't protect against compression.
• Still about measurements: with a slightly smaller phone (dimensions no more than around 14 x 7 cm) a small power bank can also fit inside. The lower corners are open, so the power supply cord can be brought in from the outside without it having to bend too much.
• Included is a piece of hook tape that can be attached to the back of the device or a phone case.
• On the inside, on the body side, a 15.5 × 11 cm loop Velcro matrix protects the screen. On the folding part there is a 17 x 8.5 cm loop Velcro matrix. There is nothing stopping you from making your own Velcro loops for organizing different things. A clever guy makes different Velcro inserts for different configurations!
• In the folding part, in connection with the Velcro matrix, there is also an elastic band, the tension of which can be adjusted with the string lock on the bottom. With this you can support the device more securely inside the pouch.
• On the outside, a 14.5 x 10 cm fluffy Velcro matrix for IFF, badges and other thingies. The locking system in the middle of the matrix at the top.
• Stiffened structure. The pouch consists of a plastic stiffener that has three layers on the sides. Thus, poking laying on top of the pouch doesn't unduly weigh down the contents, but the pouch is still not a completely hard block.
• Drawstrings on both sides prevent the pouch from opening too much. The depth of the opening can be adjusted by moving the strings or by putting shorter/longer laces.
• The open corner structure prevents water from accumulating inside. The top and bottom edges are the most protected, but if you decided to dive in the swamp or crawl from Paris to Berlin, you should put your phone into a safe.
• External dimensions approx. 20.5 x 11.5 x 3 cm. A thicker device also makes the pouch thicker. The attachment flaps are very thin and made of the same stiffener as the pocket itself, so the attachment does not raise the profile much.
• Attaches to a 4 x 2 PALS/MOLLE matrix.
• Main fabric 500 denier Foxdura.
• Weighs 140 grams.

Materials & manufacturing

The Templar’s Gear M05 products are manufactured from the Finnish Foxa 500 denier Foxdura fabric by using laser cut technology, which enabled us to reduce the weight of the gear without compromising reliability. The material meets the Finnish Defence Forces' requirements for IRR protection and the other materials are also IRR treated. This means that the products can be safely used even in situations where you need to be hidden in the IR spectrum!

The laser cut PALS webbings are also extremely durable, because they don’t have stitches which are prone to wear and tear. Special attention has been paid to quality control in Templar’s pouches and gear, because a significant portion of the company’s customers are officials, whose safety and well-being might depend on the gear.

Conscription in Finnish military

Well, since someone’s going to ask anyway, let’s answer: we do not know if this gear can be used when you are in general conscription. If you want to be polite, you can ask your officer, if it’s okay to use your own gear. However, it’s usually easier to apologize later than to get permission. If necessary, we recommend you demonstrate the features of the gear, for example in the IR spectrum, where you can clearly prove that this gear has been made for military use and is not some Chinese knock-off.

Templar's Gear products are delivered to us straight from the factory in Poland. This means that our product selection is updated to the latest and greatest generation almost in real time as replenishments are ordered. Thanks to the close cooperation and our frequent orders, we also have a chance to forward feedback and new ideas to the respective designers. If you as a user have any ideas for product development, we are happy to share them with Templar's Gear.

Extended two-year warranty

Templar’s Gear products are granted a two-year warranty. In more concrete manner this means for example products sold on this spring will have warranty for two action packed seasons of airsoft, shooting or whatever you do with them.

Warranty covers all problems that should arise from defective materials or poor craftsmanship. Carelessness or misuse voids the warranty.
