Maple Leaf Silicone MR. Hop Hop-Up Bucking for AEG Barrels, 70

The plastic surgery business has long known that silicone is the bee’s knees. The same miracle material works wonders in hop-up buckings as well! Silicone as a material has great stability across an extreme temperature range and the ability to quickly return to its original shape when the applied stress is removed. It’s a popular material in the R-hop community and in our tests we’ve found that the Silicone bucking is just as good or even better than an R-hop!

The Maple Leaf MR. Hop – the extremely long range hop-up bucking

MR in this context isn’t a title but an abbreviation for Maximum Range. This is achieved by working the same way as R-hop: the nub mound fills the whole barrel cut-out window forming a long and even point of contact for BBs. This gives BBs a lengthier but less tampering touch. In this way the back spin is smoother and so both range and accuracy are improved!

However, Mr. Hop’s excellent features aren’t limited to just the contact nub mound. A wave pattern ridge on the outside presses the hop-up bucking tighter against the inner barrel to prevent air leaks. In addition, the lip of the bucking is slightly longer and heftier than normal which also improves air seal! However, the shaping hasn’t gone overboard and the bucking still feeds well.

NB! A regular round/cylindrical tensioner nub curves the contact mound so in order to get the most out of the bucking, we recommend using Maple Leaf’s own curved tensioner or a similar tensioner.

The degrees of the buckings

The degrees of the hop-up buckings mark their compatibility with guns of different muzzle energies or power levels. In general, you could say: the more powerful the gun, the higher the degree. The manufacturer recommends choosing the degree of your bucking according to the table below. They also recommend choosing a higher degree silicone bucking than a normal bucking in the same power range. So if you’ve been using a 60 degree MR. Hop in your setup, you should choose the 70 degree Silicone MR. Hop. However, the old but familiar wisdom still stands: tougher degrees usually last longer and return faster to their shape after shooting. Softer degrees provide more back spin and work better (or longer at least) in cold.
