The Maple Leaf hop-up buckings are divided into categories according to their use. The Macaron series' (Gen. 2) buckings are an improved and upgraded version of the reliable Monster series' (Gen. 1) hop-up buckings. On top of small improvements, the buckings have been colored according to their hardness degree, so that it’s easier to tell them apart!
There are two different versions of buckings for GBBs and sniper rifles: Autobot and Decepticon, which are upgraded versions of old Diamond and Delta buckings.
The Autobot buckings have been designed for long range shooting, due to which the nub of the bucking is shaped like a W (or a diamond, see picture). The nub centers the BB and gives it an even backspin, so that the range is as long as possible. In addition, the Autobot bucking comes with a metal C-ring, which is an upgrade compared to the Gen. 1 buckings. The C-ring keeps the bucking’s nozzle end in the right shape, which improves the tightness between the nozzle and the bucking!
The degrees of the hop-up buckings mark their compatibility with guns of different muzzle energies or power levels. In general, you could say: the more powerful the gun, the higher the degree. The manufacturer recommends choosing the degree of your bucking as follows:
Degree and color | Recommended power range |
50 – Green | Less-than 110 m/s (1.2 J) |
60 – Yellow | 90-120 m/s (0.8-1.5 J) |
70 – Blue | 110-140 m/s (1.2-2 J) |
75 – Red | 130-150 m/s (1.7-2.25 J) |
80 – Black | Greater-than 150 m/s (2.25 J) |
According to the experiences of our customers and us, the 60 degree bucking is suitable for gas guns and stock rifles. The 70 degree bucking suits more powerful stock rifles and light upgrades, whereas the 75 and 80 degree buckings are suitable for heavily upgraded rifles. In cold conditions a softer bucking might work better.
The Maple Leaf Macaron hop-up buckings are compatible with GBB guns and VSR series with Tokyo Marui standards. Note, however, that the nub of the bucking is shaped a bit different, which means that the hop-up window of the inner barrel has to be open like in Tokyo Marui guns.
