Wait a minute, hearing protection in airsoft, what use is that? Don’t worry, these cups do not make you deaf, quite the contrary! The hearing protector headphones have small microphones on the outer side the cups, allowing the user to hear – in fact, better than those without hearing protection. The hearing protection amplifies faint noises, so that you can hear small cracking noises better, while louder sounds are left on the outside. The active feature requires two AA batteries to operate (not included).
The real benefit of the Comtac in airsoft is their compatibility with PTTs and as such with radiotelephones! The connector is a so-called Military Standard Plug, which is not compatible with unauthorised PMR phones. For this, you will need a separate PTT (Push-To-Talk), which allows you to connect your headset to your PMR phone. PTTs can be found for e.g. Kenwood, Motorola and Cobra phones!
The headband is adjustable. It is low-profile, but does not necessarily fit underneath all helmets.
