GATE Black Silicone Wire 1.50 mm² (~15AWG), 1 Meter

GATE’s silicone covered wire is an excellent choice for every rewiring. A large amount of small copper fibers together with the silicone insulation makes the wire flexible, and because of that, it is easy to install to the tight corners of a gearbox or into a cramped battery space. Silicone endures heat better than PVC or teflon and it is more flexible. In addition, the GATE silicone wire is one of the thinnest silicone wires on the market and installing it is easy also into V2 gearboxes! However, silicone cannot handle cuts as well as PVC or Teflon.

AWG versus mm²

AWG, or American Wire Gauge, is an American standard for the cross-sectional area of electric conductors, meaning their sizes. According to the traditional imperial system of measurements, AWG is as twisted because a smaller AWG value means a larger size of a conductor! In the metric system of measurements, the size of a conductor is reported as a cross-sectional area, as square millimeters (mm²) which is a bit more logical. The cross-sectional area defines directly how much current can go through a wire before it suffers or melts.

The cross-sectional area of GATE’s conductor is 1.5 mm² which is bigger than the commonly used 16AWG wire (equal to 1.29 mm²) and is between 14AWG (1.63 mm²) and 15AWG (1.45mm²) wires. A conductor of this size is especially suitable for guns which have been upgraded but it suits well stock guns, too.

  • Material of the conductor: Copper
  • Crosscut of the conductor: 1.5 mm² (Corresponds to a 15 AWG wire which is 1.45 mm²)
  • Material of the insulation: Silicone
  • Thickness of the wire with the insulation: 2.5 mm
  • Color of the insulation: Black
  • Heat-resistance: 180°C (momentary 230°C)

Sold by the meter: when ordering more than one you most likely receive one long piece of wire. Since the product is cut according to the customer's request, there is no return right.
